Signpost or Discourse structure

Signpost or Discourse Structure Think of it like a roadmap for your writing or speech before the reader or listener: Speakers and writers use special techniques (called signposts) to guide their audience through their argument or message. These signposts help connect what is being said now to what was said before and what's coming next. It's like creating a clear path for the reader or listener to understand. "Discourse structure" refers to the overall organization of a text, like how a poem, newspaper article, or speech is put together to convey the message. It's just like a big picture of how language is used to communicate effectively. Just like a roadmap helps you navigate/go through a journey, these signposts and structures help your audience follow his argument or message.

"Don't put your all eggs in one basket" is a well-known proverb. What does that mean, and what this is used for?  Let's have a review of our life today. It's a cycle of 24 hours. How do we use our time and how much do we get or earn from these hours? What are our obligations and duties? How are we able to cope with these responsibilities honestly? What are our expectations from others? There are many questions lurking over our minds.  And how do we satisfy ourselves by answering these questions? It's very difficult to understand the real stream of life that goes on today.  Everyone has a different point of view and has his set of mind in which he performs his duties. Because of human nature, one has his style of learning and offering his services. During this span of time, he gains a reward for his services. Some of them get more than his service because of the different nature of their jobs. There are some physically hectic and some of them are mentally hect...

And it was the second heart attack that my father had been undergoing since we left our town.  Broken Road Leads to Lahore On the way to the hospital, my father had got more severe attacks and was still unconscious when reached the ICU care. After about half an hour he expired and I was praying for his relief from pain. We reached ho...

A Bitter Fact of Life -Ch No 12- Towards the Final Destination

12| A Bitter Fact of Life There are many bitter facts of life, death is the unique one. Nobody can dare to deny it. Once we were children; where our youth has gone; and how life has become so hard in old age; all that seems too fleeting to be true. Man is a slave of his destiny and it is his destiny that backends him to move towards it. Everything is beyond his power but his will and determination. Whether he makes the best use of his inborn abilities or not, God has bestowed them upon him. Those who think that they can't do that are mistaken because the opportunities are everywhere whether we realize it or not. People around us are making money by dint of their efforts and skill. Our destiny is borrowed in accordance with our efforts.   Once I met with a person who had three boys. He was talking about the wretch condition of his eldest son. He was very nonchalant in his attitude and never bothered what his father advised him. The father was venting to me about what he wante...
