10| Precious Moments of Life

My father died on the very day when I got my matriculation result. Since then I have been making my life to stand on foot all by myself. By the grace of God, I have made my life and gained what I wanted. I have done many achievements in my life, and I have many encouraging lessons to narrate and inculcate a boosting spirit for the heartbroken. At present, I am surprised to see those who have everything to move ahead in their life but lack the vision and will to make up their life at the cost of their own efforts.  Since the death of my father, I have never felt helpless in my efforts. From the great treasure of Allah Almighty, I have got everything. I completed my studies; I visited Europe; I got married; I built my home with my own heart. I have everything that one can desire: peace of mind, health, freedom of all cares. I never felt melancholic or disappointed. I have a staunch faith that there is a healing power of nature that provides opportunities to make one's life better and better within limited circumstances. It is not necessary to use unfair means to make progress in life. The world is full of physical phenomena, which offer great learning all the time. And learning needs will and a positive attitude. Whenever you want to learn and change your life. However, effectiveness can't be achieved without any guidance. This guidance renders from your master or from your mentors to lead you towards truth. Everyone needs guidance and training from the experts except the prophets. They were taught and guided by Allah Almighty with the help of angels. "

Whenever I get a call from any of my pupils, I thought of that pupil of mine who left me with an envelope of fee twenty five years ago. I used to teach a group of students in which different boys belonged to different families. They have different tasks to perform in their life. Some of them were well-off and could afford the fee easily. But there was a boy who could not afford the fee. I did not demand or get much of the fee. He continued his studies and I was very happy that he was improving and learning a lot. It was my routine that once or twice I would remind them about the fee submission.  I tried to ignore that boy who was unable to pay his monthly fee and it didn't matter. I couldn't realize that the boy did feel it. He wanted me to ask him also, but I had got the situation and kept him ignoring it. However, I would ask him about his assignments and other matters regarding his studies. After two months, he stopped attending the classes. Once or twice he attended and I didn't ask him much about his absence. Later, at once he stopped and one day I received a letter. It was a detailed letter from that boy, including the fee for previous months.

A message from my students:

"Sir, I don't know whether you like it or not, but it's a fact that you are very different from other teachers. I am unable to oblige or thank you for all that you have done for me......... Previously, I used to attend a tuition class, and the teacher asked me to bring my fee or otherwise I might leave the class. That teacher knew my circumstances and instead of it asked me to bring the fee at any rate. I don't know how you have come to know my circumstances, but with due respect accept my fee whatever it is. And I will not continue my studies as well....."

In his letter, he appreciated and prayed for me a lot. The words depicted his poverty-stricken circumstances and made me cry.  I didn't have his contact or any reference to see him again. But the fee he paid me tortured me much. I could not compensate for the loss that I did. I wanted him to carry on his studies by all means, but the face of that boy never disappeared in my mind. I tried hard to locate him but it was all in vain. I often felt my blunder that why I was not able to take his confidence so that he could continue his studies. I tried to appraise my action, but still, I was at a loss.
